Robert Bosch Fellowships on South Eastern Europe Austria

UNU-WIDER PhD Research Internship Programme 2011-12,

Scholarships Funding The UNU-WIDER Ph.D. Research Internship Programme aims to provide PhD (doctorate program) students enrolled in universities and similar research institutions the opportunity to utilize the resources and facilities available at the UNU-WIDER for their PhD thesis research to produce a suitable paper for publication in the Research Paper series and elsewhere to work jointly with UNU-WIDER researchers in areas of mutual interest.

Details Selection criteria:

Scholarships Funding Applicants must
(A) are currently enrolled into the PhD program.
(B) has shown the ability to conduct research in a developing country or transition. Candidates working in other social sciences that apply but it must be remembered that the UNU-WIDER is an economic institution-focused.
(C) is fluent in spoken and written English.
(D) have good skills of quantitative analysis and statistics.

The Scholarships Funding criteria for selection (desirable)
Preference will be given to applicants
(A) who live or work in developing countries or transition.
(B) research topics related to the current program UNU-WIDER's.
(C) who are willing to work jointly with UNU-WIDER researchers for mutual benefit.

Scholarships Funding Selection Procedure Details

The Scholarships Funding selected interns are expected to
(A) spend 2-3 months in Helsinki and return to their home institution afterwards.
(B) to pursue research on the topic agreed.
(C) contribute to the activities of UNU-WIDER-related research.
(D) gave a seminar on the results of their research.
(E) complete one or more research report (s).
(F) recognize the support of UNU-WIDER in their thesis, report, or paper if necessary.
(G) provide research assistance by 30% of their time (about 1.5 days per week), if necessary. This is subject to prior discussion with UNU-WIDER researchers responsible (s).

The Scholarships Funding selected internship
(A) receive supervision in their research fields.

Research Position Scholarships Funding in Centre for Studies in Science Policy


Scholarships Funding Economic Research Unit based at the Centre for Policy Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University is mandated to conduct macro-economic analysis, simulation modeling and analysis of case studies are based to enhance our understanding of the functions of dryland rainfed agriculture and the macro-economic contribution may be in India. The purpose of this research unit is to build a case for evidence-based direct investment more generally to the rainfed areas and the appropriate form of investment must be in related sectors. The Scholarships Funding project is funded by the Ford Foundation and will run until December 31, 2012.
A range of positions are being filled during the coming months, starting from young researchers to senior colleagues. This is not time-bound positions, and therefore applications are invited on an ongoing basis.
Scholarships Funding Successful candidates must have a PhD in Economics and a combination of field survey experience, proven ability with statistical and econometric packages and reasonable publication record. PhD Position Scholarships Funding in Biophysics


Scholarships Funding In particular, many bacteria are naturally competent for DNA transformation in which bacteria import naked DNA from their environment. Although the proteins required for DNA import most of the known, the molecular mechanism of DNA import is unclear. We designed and tested a laser tweezers to study the dynamics of molecular motors and power generation in the lives of individual bacteria in a different model bacteria. Scholarships Funding In future studies we want to apply statistical physics methods to overcome the transport mechanism of DNA molecules through the cell envelope of bacteria in the human pathogen Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

Methods: The laser tweezers, single molecule fluorescence microscopy, microbiological methods

PhD Scholarships Funding Studentship in Cloud Computing


The Scholarships Funding position includes a competitive salary for a period of four years of research time if the study and the results of research can be achieved. PhD Student Position Scholarships Funding in Virtual Production Systems.

Overview

The Division of Production Systems within the Department of Product and Production Development announces a PhD position for the Virtual Production group. Our focus is on applied research in national and international projects. We cooperate closely with Industrial partners to validate and implement results for industrial benefits.


Job description

As a PhD candidate you will work on development of virtual tools for analysis of Ecologic and Economic Impact through the complete lifecycle of industrial products. Flows simulation and environmental measures will be combined in order to include dynamic aspects in sustainability analyses. The tool development will enable companies to increase competitiveness by jointly improving sustainability and productivity.

The main challenges are: Which are the system delimitations and what kind of data must be included in a combination of productivity and sustainability analyses? Is there a standard to conform to? How should user interfaces be designed to effectively support integration of life cycle information in a discrete event simulation context? Which are the relevant sources for production and sustainability data and how can this data be automatically extracted, processed and combined?


You will be responsible for development and validation of a demonstrator showing how to measure and evaluate the environmental impact for a product during its lifecycle.


Required qualifications

You should have:

  • a M.Sc. degree (civilingenjörsexamen) related to production systems and/or sustainability analysis.

  • good analytical skills and good ability to work independently towards the research goals.

  • experience of programming including development of user interfaces and databases.

  • good knowledge in the area of virtual tools for product and production evaluation, especially discrete event simulation.high social skills, the ability to create effective networks and potential to take on a technical responsibility role in the future.

  • proficiency in English, which is our working language. You need good knowledge of Swedish for communication with the companies in the project and for teaching.


Additional desired skills and knowledge that will increase the applicant`s chances:
lifecycle assessment methods, discrete event simulation, data management, and visualization.

PhD Position Scholarships Funding in Theoretical Chemistry, Aarhus University, Denmark

At this time (2011) there is a concrete opening for a phd position in the context of a Marie-Curie network associated with COMI (Center for Oxygen Microscopy and Imaging). The general problem to be addressed is development and application of theoretical/computational methods aimed at describing two-photon absorption.

Successful candidates are expected to have a strong background in Chemistry, Physics, Nano-science or similar, and have the ability and willingness to work with theory meaning both the basic equations, their realization in modern theories for electronic or nuclear degrees of freedom, programming and scientific computation.

It is important that the applicant can verify qualifications with respect to handling mathematical theories. Experience with running standard programs is partially assumed and definitely positive, but, however competent, is not enough.

Global Scholarships Funding Program in Graphic Communications 2011-12, France

Scholarship Details:

The many disciplines of Graphic Communications, including multimedia and game design, are global industries with both cultural and global markets to satisfy. This program will enhance the development and understanding of the animation/gaming process allowing students to experience first-hand the process professional animator’s use. Students will develop storyboards for animation and sequencing of activities, create traditional drawings to scan into computer programs and finish development of an interactive game or multimedia CD. Students will also take classes at Parsons Paris School of Art and Design and visit master works of art in a variety of museums.
